NMSU Sirens Tested Wednesday At Noon

By KRWG News

Las Cruces – During the test, the alarms will sound simultaneously for one minute beginning at noon and the NMSU emergency notification system will send out alerts. Subscribers to the emergency notification system will receive phone calls, text messages and/or emails with a "test" message outlining a weather emergency.

In an actual emergency, the sirens will sound continuously for two minutes or longer. The sirens have an effective sound radius of one mile and will rotate while sounding. They will only be used for weather-related emergencies - primarily tornado warnings. In an emergency, the sirens alert people to head for shelter and once they are safe to check the website or local news for additional information.

Students and staff can manage their Emergency Notification information at http://emergency.nmsu.edu
