Las Cruces Museum To Showcase “Endangered Monuments”

Dr. Samuel Fee

Join us Friday, January 24 through April 4, 2020 for Endangered Monuments, a series of conservation photographs by Dr. Samuel Fee. His photographs of national monuments throughout the southwestern U.S. capture the timeless beauty found in America’s public lands. It is his hope that by engaging viewers with visually arresting images of public lands that the exhibit will inspire greater interest in conserving the unique beauty of national monuments.

Conservation photography is the use of photography and photojournalism as a tool to promote conservation. By showcasing ecologically unique landscapes to the viewer through photography, Fee’s work engages the audience in the act of looking upon the world to inspire a sense of connectedness and public ownership. By focusing on national monuments in the Southwest that are under threat or have been seriously compromised by changing federal policies, Fee seeks to inspire viewers to recognize the awe-inspiring and evocative landscape found in these public spaces and to take action to ensure they will be preserved for future generations.
