January 23, 2016 – Las Cruces, NM - On this edition of PUENTES, bridges to the community, host Emily Guerra meets with Friends of the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks Executive Director, Ben Gabriel; and Artist-In-Residence, Meg Freyermuth.

Last year the Friends of the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks and the Bureau of Land Management-Las Cruces District selected Freyermuth as their first Artist-In-Residence not only for her quality of works, but also for her passion of painting landscapes. She is a local artist who has been painting since 2003, and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting & Drawing from New Mexico State University in 2009. She depicts her passion for the environment through brightly colored, dramatic wilderness paintings.

On Wednesday, January 27th, at 7 p.m., Freyermuth will be giving a presentation at the Southwest Environmental Center about her experiences as an artist-in-residence for the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument. Applications are now being accepted for this year’s artist-in-residence. To find out more visit - www.organmountainsdesertpeaks.org.
