Las Cruces, NM – On this edition of PUENTES a la comunidad, bridges to the community, host Emily Guerra met with Border Servant Corps Executive Director, Kari Lenander, and Site Coordinator, Silvia Dorado, to talk about “Celebrando Las Ámericas.” It’s a “Family Fiesta” featuring books, art, food and music in collaboration with Casa Camino Real Bookstore and Libros Para el Viaje/Books for the Journey. The FREE event will take place Saturday, August 31st at Peace Lutheran Church, 1701 E. Missouri Avenue in Las Cruces, NM beginning at 9 a.m.

Las Cruces, NM – On this edition of PUENTES a la comunidad, bridges to the community, host Emily Guerra met with Singing Out Las Cruces Choir LGBTQ Board Member, Dave Henton, and Artistic Director, Irene Gehre, to talk about their summer concert: “Disco, Madonna and Cher. Oh My!!!” The two-day concert will be held Saturday, June 1st at 7 p.m. and Sunday, June 2nd at 3 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 1701 East Missouri Avenue in Las Cruces. Tickets are $10 for adults, children 12 and under are free, and are available at Spirit Winds, 2260 South Locust in Las Cruces; and at the door.

AARP - 45 years in Las Cruces

Las Cruces, NM – On this edition of PUENTES, bridges to the community, host Emily Guerra met with AARP Las Cruces Chapter Volunteer President and member of the AARP State Executive Council, David Lynch. Founded in 1958 by retired educator, Ethel Percy Andrus. AARP was formerly known as American Association of Retired Persons to advocate on behalf of senior citizens. Currently there are 38 million members nationally, and 300,000 in New Mexico. The Las Cruces Chapter started 45 years ago to help people choose how they live as they age.

Las Cruces, NM - On this edition of PUENTES, bridges to the community, host Emily Guerra meets with Border Servant Corps (BSC) Executive Director, Kari Lenander, and BSC Program Coordinator, Sophia Sepp. Founded in Las Cruces 20 years ago, BSC promotes and demonstrates justice, kindness, and humility in U.S./Mexico border region through the exploration of community, simplicity, social justice, and spirituality. Their mission is to provide an opportunity for volunteers to work for justice, serve their neighbor, and walk humbly with their God.
