When Mark Medoff passed away at the end of April, the world lost a great man of the theatre, his students lost a passionate and dedicated teacher, and Las Cruces lost an extraordinary supporter of this community. Intermezzo host Leora Zeitlin shares some memories of the Tony-award winning playwright, and a clip from one of her interviews with him.

 August 7, 2015 – Las Cruces, NM - On this edition of PUENTES, bridges to the community, Emily Guerra meets with New Mexico State University’s Creative Media Institute (CMI) Department Head, Amy Lanasa, and CMI Adjunct Professor, Algernon D’Ammassa, theatrical actor and producer. CMI prepares students for the 21st century in Digital Filmmaking and Animation & Visual Effects, as well as game design. Last year “Animation Career Review” ranked CMI as one of the top 10 animation and game design schools in the Southwest.

“Annie, Get Your Gun” Comes to Las Cruces

Director Mark Medoff first saw “Annie, Get Your Gun” as a young child, and has wanted to direct it ever since. Along with conductor Lonnie Klein and a team of acclaimed performers and community members, Medoff is bringing the hit Broadway musical to Las Cruces in a new production featuring his daughter, soprano Jessica Medoff, and baritone Mark Womack. The three came to talk about this famous show about sharpshooter Annie Oakley, which boasts one hit song after another.
