"When a Woman Rises" a novel by Dr. Christine Eber

Las Cruces, NM – On this edition of PUENTES a la comunidad, bridges to the community, host Emily Guerra met with author and activist, Dr. Christine Eber, New Mexico State University Anthropology Professor Emerita, to talk to us about her new novel, “When a Woman Rises,” published by Cinco Puntos Press in El Paso, Texas. Her work explores the lives of indigenous women in Chiapas, Mexico and how they have been organizing to defend their lands and lives. Eber was chosen as one of the twenty women to receive the 17th Annual Governor’s Award for Outstanding New Mexico Women, in recognition of her service to the people of New Mexico.
