Superhero Training for Parents Conference

November 13, 2015 – Las Cruces, NM - On this edition of PUENTES, bridges to the community, host Emily Guerra meets with Ngage New Mexico Community Engagement Coordinator, Lucia Veronica Carmona, and with Success Partnership Director, David Greenberg, to talk to us about a bilingual Superhero Training for Parents Conference to better equip parents to help their children grow and be successful students.

Carmona explains that at the conference they “expect to celebrate families, celebrate our culture also, because that is an important piece; that is why we are saying this is a bilingual conference. And learn that we want to open doors and be more accessible for the parent engagement and their lives, and the student’s lives.” Greenberg also explains that “at the conference there will be tons of incredible resources and community support there for parents to engage with.” He also says that “education is the key to a strong vibrant community, it is everyone’s responsibility.”

The “Superhero Training for Parents Conference” will take place Saturday, November 14th, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Las Cruces Convention Center. Your ticket to the Conference will include free books, educational toys, over 6 workshops, lunch, and a Key Note Speaker - Dr. Gina Nunez, UTEP Professor of Anthropology.
