February 13, 2014 – Las Cruces, NM - On this edition of PUENTES, Emily Guerra bridges the community with Las Cruces Sun News Digital Editor, Lucas Peerman, to talk about the evolving state of the newspaper industry and social media. He graduated from New Mexico State University in 2002 with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and has been working in the newspaper business since he was seventeen.
For years people have been forecasting the demise of the daily print newspaper. Since 2009 several major print newspaper organizations have gone through drastic changes, from downsizing to closing. And now with social media in the already competitive internet market, it seems that for many newspapers it’s only a matter of time that they too will become extinct.
