Young Achievers Forum Prepares 6th Graders for the Future

CommUNITY en ACCIÓN

Las Cruces, NM – On this edition of PUENTES, bridges to the community, host Emily Guerra meets with one of the founders of the Young Achievers Forum (YAF) of CommUNITY en ACCIÓN, Raymond Palacios, owner of Bravo Chevrolet Cadillac in Las Cruces and El Paso. CommUNITY en ACCIÓN is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the economic, civic and social well-being of Hispanics in the region. YAF began in El Paso County in 2011 to give middle school students and their families the opportunity of introducing middle school students, especially low-income families, to the possibility of higher education.

The 2nd Annual Young Achievers Forum, hosted by New Mexico State University, will take place on Saturday, February 10th from 8:30 am to 1 pm at NMSU’s Corbett Center Student Union Ballrooms, 3rd floor, 1780 E. University Avenue, Las Cruces, NM 88003. 500 students from Southern New Mexico attended last year’s Forum in Las Cruces. The University of Texas in El Paso (UTEP) hosted over 800 students last year and expects nearly 1,000 students at their 7th annual Forum on Saturday, February 24th.
