Las Cruces, NM - On this edition of PUENTES, bridges to the community, host Emily Guerra meets with Gourd Artist of Picacho Hills, Wanda Sparks, to talk to us about their annual Art in the Garden, where gardeners and artists of Picacho Hills in Las Cruces combine their talents.
Eight years ago residents of Picacho Hills shared their gardens with four artists for their first outdoor art show. This year 18 artists will display their art at five different gardens, as well as indoors at the Picacho Hills Country Club. Sparks says that last year they had about 600 people attend. Their theme this year is “Where Nature and Nurture Mingle.” She says that “master gardeners will be in each garden to answer questions. It’s a good place to get design ideas for your gardens too. So you don’t have to be interested in art, you can be strictly a gardener and you’ll still love the day.”
Art in the Garden 2016 is free and open to the public, Sunday, May 15th from 11 am to 4 pm at Picacho Hills Country Club, 1320 Picacho Hills Drive in Las Cruces. Previews of the Artists of Picacho Hills are available online at www.artistsofpicachohills.com and on Facebook.
