Pedestrian Fatally Struck on I-10, South of Las Cruces

Tuesday at about 5:40 a.m. New Mexico State Police investigated a crash where a pedestrian walking across I-10 was fatally struck by several vehicles.  The incident occurred on I-10 around mile post 155 south of Las Cruces, NM.

The initial investigation determined that for unknown reasons, a pedestrian was walking across the lanes of travel of east bound I-10.  The pedestrian was struck by an east bound 2015 Toyota, and then struck again by an east bound 2019 Nissan. After the initial two impacts the pedestrian was struck at least two more times by a Hyundai and a Chrysler.    The pedestrian, David Holguin (40) of Las Cruces sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Office of the Medical Investigator. The drivers of the vehicles were not charged with any crime, and their identities will not be released.  No other injuries were reported.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.  The incident is currently under investigation by New Mexico State Police Uniform Bureau and the New Mexico State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit.
