NMSU Hosts Salvadoran Ambassador to the U.N.

Las Cruces, NM - On this edition of PUENTES, Emily Guerra bridges the community with Permanent Representative of El Salvador to the United Nations, Ambassador Dr. Ruben Zamora. In August he was appointed to the United Nations after serving as the Salvadoran Ambassador to the United States since April 2013. Ironically, 30 years earlier, he was prohibited from even entering the country. Prior to studying law at the University of El Salvador, he was in the seminary for a while; and later received a Master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Essex in England.

During a visit to Washington, D.C., Kevin Cardoza with the New Mexico State University’s Model U.N. Team met Dr. Zamora and invited him to Las Cruces to a public discussion on October 3rd in the College of Arts and Sciences. He arrived the same day after attending the 69th Session of the U.N. General Assembly in New York which ran through October 1st. With such a busy schedule, he still graciously accepted an interview at KRWG for PUENTES.
