New Director Hired For NM Game And Fish Department

By KRWG News

New Mexico – ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRWG) The State Game Commission has selected Jim Lane of Rio Rancho as the new director of New Mexico's Game and Fish Department.

Lane has worked three years for the department and is chief of the Wildlife Management Division.

Before joining the game agency in New Mexico, Lane worked for the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources. He received a master's degree in forestry from the University of Kentucky.

The commission selected Lane on Thursday. Four current or former department employees were among finalists for the director's job and all but Lane had worked at least 20 years for the agency.

Lane assumes his duties on Oct. 29 and replaces Tod Stevenson, who is retiring after 33 years with the department.
