Las Cruces Area News: Doña Ana Arts Council Announces New Executive Director

The Dona Ana Arts Council (DAAC) Board of Directors announces they have hired Steve Ruwoldt as DAAC’s new Executive Director effective October 1, 2019.  Ruwoldt recently left Memorial Medical Center after serving seven years as the Chief Operating Officer.   Here is a statement from DAAC:

The Board welcomes Steve’s extensive managerial and organizational skills along with his desire to remain in Las Cruces and give back to the community.   According to Dan Lere, DAAC Board President, “We’re excited to have someone with Steve’s enthusiasm and experience in this position, and we’re looking forward to having him take the organization to the next level.”

Ruwoldt said in a statement, “I am very excited to join the Dona Ana Arts Council team, and I’m looking forward to supporting the art community to make southern New Mexico an art mecca and destination place.”

Kathleen Albers, DAAC’s outgoing Executive Director who is transitioning to a part-time position within DAAC says, “I am thrilled to hand over the reins of this wonderful organization to someone as clearly capable and motivated as Steve Ruwoldt.  In the coming months, I will do everything to assist him the transition process.”

DAAC is an integral part of the recently established Arts & Cultural District in downtown Las Cruces, and hopes to expand and unite an artistic vision for the City of Las Cruces, the Downtown Las Cruces Partnership and the numerous arts organizations and businesses that make up the Arts & Cultural District.

The Dona Ana Arts Council office and Arts & Cultural Center is located at 1740 Calle de Mercado in Mesilla, New Mexico.   The mailing address is PO Box 1721, Las Cruces, NM 88004.  For more information visit www.daarts.org or call the DAAC office at (575) 523-6403.
