How do you define wellness? Is it simply not being sick? Or is it a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being? Tune in for KRWG’s Wellness Confidential on 90.7 FM and krwg.org on Thursday, May 31st from 1 to 2 p.m. to learn about the four pillars of wellness: Nutrition, exercise, sleep, and stress management.
“Wellness is so much more than just not being sick,” says Edmundo Resendez, host of KRWG’s Wellness Confidential, “it’s about the state of being in good health and that includes having good mental health. We will explore ways to achieve wellness with our community members through conversation, not a lecture.”
The four pillars of wellness: Nutrition, exercise, sleep, and stress management are just a few examples of different kinds of wellness that will be discussed during the show with special guest, Raquel Garzon, DHSc, RDN NMSU Assistant Professor. In addition, Garzon will discuss ways to set goals and the benefits of achieving wellness through less stress, more strength; in any area, and more positivity with life and the way that things are.
“Wellness is something people should try to have in every area. Most people want it, but one must work to achieve it,” says Garzon, “my recommended first step in taking care of yourself is reflecting on what your life’s purpose is. Who and what matters to you most, how do you want to live and interact each day, what impact you would like to have on others. This creates a platform for wellness. Why be well? Who is counting on you? How can wellness facilitate the best quality of life for you?”
