In the footsteps of Piatigorsky: An interview with Evan Drachman

Cellist Evan Drachman, following in the footsteps of his famous grandfather, Gregor Piatigorsky, has made it his life’s work to bring the highest quality classical music to audiences who might not otherwise hear it: in schools, prisons, retirement communities, houses of worship, community centers, and other non-traditional venues. He founded the Piatigorsky Foundation 25 years ago to make music part of daily life across the United States. In this telephone interview with Intermezzo host, Leora Zeitlin, Drachman shares some of the experiences he has had along the way, including a concert in Alaska, where the entire village of 75 people showed up to hear the music. Drachman and pianist Victor Asuncion will perform at the Good Samaritan Village auditorium on February 28.
