Las Cruces – Las Cruces firefighters evacuated employees of the Las Cruces Sun-News on Sunday afternoon after a fire broke out in a building adjacent to the newspaper's office in the city's downtown.
No injuries were reported.
Fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of the blaze. No estimate of damages has been made.
The blaze broke out shortly after 1 p.m. Sunday in an attached storage building east of the Real Estate Press offices. The roof of the storage building collapsed.
Water and smoke damage was reported throughout the complex of buildings, but the fire did not reach the newspaper offices.
City engineers are assessing the building. It's not yet known if the newspaper's operations might have to temporarily move.
