The City of Las Cruces has initiated an update to the city comprehensive plan, a community-driven document that defines residents’, property owners’, and business owners’ long-term vision for growth and prosperity in Las Cruces, and serves as a guide for future development and redevelopment for the next 20 years and beyond. Interested individuals are invited to learn more about the City’s comprehensive planning effort - known as “Elevate Las Cruces” – by accessing a new project website at: www.elevatelascruces.com
The Elevate Las Cruces project website will serve as the clearinghouse for all project announcements, surveys, documents, and news. The public is encouraged to participate in the comprehensive planning process through a series of meetings, open houses, and on-line activities. For updates on all project events and activities, residents, property owners, and business owners can provide their contact information to the website mailing list. The website will also be available in Spanish in the coming weeks.
The Elevate Las Cruces comprehensive planning process was initiated by City Council Resolution 17-18-073 on May 7, 2018 and is expected to take 18 months to complete. City Charter requires that a new comprehensive plan be prepared every 10 years. The City’s comprehensive plan, Comprehensive Plan 2040, was originally adopted in 1999 and was subject to an administrative update in 2013.
