Democratic Mayor Martin Hicks Endorses Steve Pearce for Governor

Steve Pearce, Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman

Commentary:   Democratic Mayor of Grants Martin Hicks today endorsed Steve Pearce for Governor. Mayor Hicks joins a growing list of prominent Democrats to endorse Pearce including former Democratic Governor Jerry Apodaca and Dorothy Runnels, a lifelong Democrat and widow of former Congressman Harold Runnels.

“As a lifelong Democrat and current Mayor of Grants, my top priority is creating good paying jobs for the citizens I serve. That's why I'm endorsing Steve Pearce for Governor: he will be a jobs governor for all New Mexicans. Steve Pearce is the only candidate in this race with the business experience needed to bring good paying jobs and sustainable economic growth to all of New Mexico, including rural parts of our state like Cibola County. He is a dedicated public servant, serving not only as a combat pilot in Vietnam but also in the New Mexico legislature and now the United States Congress. His broad experience is what we need in a Governor.

“As Governor, I know that Steve Pearce will work across the aisle, putting political parties aside to move our state forward. I know from personal experience that his opponent will not. I am proud to join fellow Democratic leaders across the state to endorse Steve Pearce for Governor, a leader who will work with all New Mexicans to get our state back on track," said Mayor Hicks.

“I am proud to have the support of Mayor Hicks. Our campaign continues to build support from Democrats who believe we must put partisanship aside and bring jobs to New Mexico. As a former businessman, I know our state can do better. As Governor, I will bring people together, create jobs, and fix our schools for every New Mexican,” said Pearce.
