Community Invited To NMSU Salon Disovery September 18

NMSU student Min Tran

The community will have a chance to discover the rich history and continued accomplishments of the Department of Astronomy at Salon Discovery’s fall gala event, “NMSU Astromony: Clyde Tombaugh and Beyond” at 7:30 p.m., Sept. 18 in Atkinson Recital Hall.

KRWG's Fred Martino interviews NMSU professors Nancy Chanover and James McAteer.  They pilot your educational and entertaining journey, taking you from the department’s origins under Tombaugh to the fascinating work of today’s faculty. Attendees will have the opportunity to pose questions to our astronomy experts, enjoy live dance performances by NMSU’s award-winning student dance programs and stargaze at the after-party on the Horseshoe. There will also be light refreshments and spectacular views of space on large screens.

Salon Discovery provides the Las Cruces community with a showcase of the accomplishments and expertise of NMSU faculty, staff and students in areas as diverse as science, music and dance. Tickets are on sale now and will be available at the door. NMSU students can pick up a free ticket at the door with a valid student ID.

For more information, go to SalonDiscovery.nmsu.edu or call 575-646-1420.
