Common Cause NM and ACLU-NM offer a Voter Hotline

Mario Jimenez III

Las Cruces, NM – On this edition of PUENTES a la comunidad, bridges to the community, host Emily Guerra spoke with Common Cause New Mexico Campaign Director, Mario O. Jimenez III, to talk to us about a statewide election integrity program. Common Cause New Mexico and ACLU of New Mexico are teaming up to run an unbiased, non-partisan voter protection program to assist voters who encounter problems in voting, either by mail or in person. Jimenez says the program is not affiliated with any party, candidate or issue campaign.

Anyone who wants to volunteer to help as a poll watcher or monitor can sign up for training at protectthevote.net or by calling 575-571-8507. People with legal backgrounds who want to volunteer for the hotline contact electionprotection.wetheaction.org. The non-partisan hotline for the public in English: 1-866-OUR-VOTE (866-687-8683); and for Spanish speakers: 1-888-VE-Y-VOTA (888-839-8682). More information available at nm.commoncause.org or aclu-nm.org. A list of early voting polls in Doña Ana County can be found at donaanacounty.org/elections.
