May 16, 2014 – Las Cruces, NM - On this edition of PUENTES, Emily Guerra bridges the community with local visual artist, musician/songwriter, and numerologist Corina Gabaldón. The rich culture, mythology, and art of her Aztec/Mayan heritage were the inspiration for her paintings to promote and preserve their ancestral wisdom. By sharing their traditional indigenous beliefs and ways of life, Gabaldón hopes to bring an appreciation and awareness to the world. She would especially like to “build pride and identity in the children of today’s generation who have inherited this wisdom since ancient times.”

Gabaldón’s one-woman exhibit, La Sabiduría Ancestral/Ancestral Wisdom, is on display through the end of May, 2014, at the Branigan Cultural Center in Las Cruces. She will give a guided tour and share stories and history behind each of her paintings at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 17th. Her exhibit of 15 acrylic paintings can also be viewed on her website, www.soulinsights.net. One of her paintings, “Xochiquetzal” the Goddess of Love and Beauty, is now owned by local historian and art collector, J. Paul Taylor.
