8th Annual "The Big Latch On" for World Breastfeeding Week

 

  Las Cruces, NM – On this edition of PUENTES a la comunidad, bridges to the community, host Emily Guerra met with Alliance for Border Collaboratives Projects Coordinator, Rosalba Ruiz, to talk to us about “The 8th Annual Big Latch On” (La Gran Lactada) to celebrate World Breastfeeding Week, August 1-7 locally and simultaneously participate in a worldwide effort to bring awareness. This year’s theme is “Empower Parents, Enable Breastfeeding.

The World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action organizes World Breastfeeding Week every year to encourage mothers and their infants across the world to gather in their communities and take part in the Global Big Latch On, a worldwide synchronized event celebrated in 31 countries.

The Binational Breastfeeding Coalition (BBC) will host “The 8th Annual Big Latch On” in El Paso, Texas from 9 a.m. - 12 noon on Saturday, August 3rd at Bassett Place, 6101 Gateway Blvd., in Alamogordo, NM from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. at Joe’s Place, 700 E. 1st #748; and in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, “NaSer” will host “La Gran Tetada” from 9 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at Parque Central Poniente, Av. Tecnológico 4450, Partido Iglesias, 32616. All events are open to everyone in the community and will feature free resources, exhibitors, door prizes and the opportunity to meet with local breastfeeding women and advocates.
