DAR Women in American History Awards
Four Las Cruces trailblazers in the arts, government, business, education and evolution are the 2024 Women in American History for the Dona Ana chapter of the New Mexico Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Recipients will be honored Thursday, March 28, at Hacienda de Mesilla at an 11 a.m. luncheon and meeting.
The national DAR organization encourages local chapters to choose for the honor women who have made a difference in their community and state. Honorees are to be intellectual, educational, social, religious, political, scientific, or cultural innovators.
The 2024 honorees include anthropologist Dr. Wenda Trevathan,
choral director Dr. Jerry Ann Alt, international Chinese porcelain expert Elisabeth Caryl Porter and the late businesswoman and New Mexico Senator Mary Jane Garcia.
