In March 2020, the Deming Art Center will be awash with the creative genius of the Deming “Quilting Bees.” The “Quilting Bees” are a local group that meet twice a month- they focus on learning new techniques in quilting. Each meeting features a “show and tell” and the group is supportive of each other’s works. The show runs from March 2-30, 2020 and there will be an artist reception on Sunday, March 1, from 1-3PM. The Center is located in Deming at 100 S. Gold and hours are Mon –Sat from 1-4PM. Along with the Quilt Exhibit there are three other related items that will be going on - -The first is a “Bed Turning” at the Customs House, located at 300 S. Silver St. in Deming that begins at 2PM on Saturday, March 7. Anyone may bring quilts to the Customs House between 1PM and 1:30PM. Prior to bringing the quilts a completed form that gives some details and history of the quilts needs to be filled out. Forms are available at the Deming Art Center. The public is welcome and there is no charge to entrants or visitors. -The second thing will be the raffling of a “Daisy” quilt- drawing to be held March 30, 2020 at 3PM. Raffle tickets available at Deming Art Center. -The third item is the Bi-annual Guatemalan Mercado which will be held Friday & Saturday, March 13 & 14 at the Deming Art Center.
