Have you ever asked yourself, "Just how safe are New Mexico Food Products, weeks after their harvest?" "Or, what can I do to make sure that my turkey won't get my guests sick?" Come to Science Cafe December 3 and learn some results of recent food safety research. Dr. Wills Fedio, Director of the Food Safety Laboratory at NMSU, will present on what can become problematic handling practices. He will cite lab tests performed to ensure food safety, as well as valuable tips for preparing increasingly purchased from-the-farm vegetables and fruits. Come early for snacks and a look at some examples of safe, New Mexico grown, foods. Science Cafe discussions are FREE and presented to advance greater public understanding and appreciation of contemporary science and its applications: a collaboration of the NMSU Chapter of Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Honor Society, with the City of Las Cruces Museum of Nature and Science.
