Description: The trip of a lifetime took Debb and Bud Johnson to the southern tip of Chile where they boarded a plane and flew over the Drake Passage to King George Island. For the next 16 days they lived on the Russian Research Vessel Vavilov and cruised around the Antarctic peninsula, the “Banana Belt” of the continent, amid icebergs, sea birds, whales, seals and penguins. They will introduce the audience to the magnificence of the frozen continent, the sea mammals that thrive in the cold waters of the southern seas and the sea birds that only come to land to raise their young. And they will take you with them as they cross the Scotia Sea to South Georgia, ending in the Falklands before flying back to Chile. Presenters: Debb and Bud Johnson Biographies: Debb and Bud moved to Portal Arizona in 2013 after years of visiting the Chiricahuas for camping, hiking and birding. They are self-taught naturalists and strive to co-exist with their wild bird, reptile and mammal neighbors.
