For the months of September and October, the Southwest Environmental Center (SWEC), in collaboration with the Friends of Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks (OMDP), presents “Artists of Our Monument”, an exhibit featuring previous Artists-in-Residence for the OMDP National Monument, inspired by their individual residency experiences. The artists--Meg G. Freyermuth, Emmitt Booher, Gabriella Banegas, and Kayla Blundell--seek to enhance the significance of public lands through the unique perspective of an artist’s eye. Come out and enjoy seeing all these great artists in one venue! An opening reception will be held on Friday, September 7, 2018 from 5-7pm during the Art Ramble. A lecture and presentation by the four artists about their individual residency experiences will be on Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at 7 PM at SWEC. A second reception will be held on Friday, October 5, 2018 from 5-7pm during the Art Ramble. Southwest Environmental Center, located at 275 N. Downtown Mall, is open Monday-Friday from 9am-6pm. For details, call 575-522-5552. The Artist-In-Residence program is brought to the Las Cruces community by the Friends of OMDP and the Bureau of Land Management--Las Cruces District. The residency program started in September 2015, and is a month-long residency occurring every May and September.
