TV in a child's bedroom? NOT for Healthy Kids!!

June 7, 2013 – Las Cruces, NM - On this edition of PUENTES, Emily Guerra bridges the community with Southwest Region Health Promotion Program Manager for the New Mexico Department of Health, Dawn Sanchez, and with La Semilla Food Center Director of Development and Administration, Aaron Sharratt, to talk about building a fit future with Healthy Kids. Learn to empower Las Cruces children, youth and families to adopt eating and physical activities and behaviors that support healthy lifestyles.

A project started by the New Mexico Department of Health creates healthy community environments and gives kids what they need to play well, eat well, learn, and live fully. This program is called “Healthy Kids Las Cruces” and is a part of “Healthy Kids New Mexico.” Sanchez and Sharratt both say that TV’s in a child’s bedroom does not create a “Healthy Kid.”

La Semilla Food Center also provides opportunities for healthy kids in the youth farm and school gardens.
