Storm Closes I-40 East In New Mexico

Eastbound Interstate 40 remains closed east of Albuquerque Tuesday morning because of the winter storm that passed through the state on Monday.

State officials say New Mexico highways are mainly clear and passable.

But they say eastbound I-40 is being kept closed in eastern New Mexico because of requests from law enforcement and transportation officials in Texas.

The closure of eastbound I-40 starts at the Tramway exit on the east side of Albuquerque and runs to the Texas line.
