Stabbing Suspect Sought By Las Cruces Police
Las Cruces Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest of a man suspected of stabbing his teenage sister during an argument Saturday morning.
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Ronnie Valdez, 19, who is being sought for the June 9 stabbing of his 16-year-old sister. Valdez has been charged with one count of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, a third-degree felony.
Valdez’s 16-year-old sister was taken to Memorial Medical Center with an injury to her chest. The girl, who was initially uncooperative with police, was determined to have been stabbed by her brother, Valdez, during an argument at their home on the 700 block of Stull Drive.
The girl was subsequently transported to an El Paso hospital for treatment. Her injuries were not life-threatening.
Las Cruces Police learned that Valdez stabbed his sister with a kitchen knife and then fled the area on foot.
Valdez is Hispanic, 5-feet-6-inches tall and weighs approximately 125 pounds. He has short brown hair and hazel eyes.
If you know the whereabouts of Ronnie Valdez you are asked to call Las Cruces Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or send a tip via text message to LCTIPS (528477).
The Crime Stoppers number and text messaging services are operational 24 hours a day and you do not have to give your name to collect a reward.
