ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM-01) released the following statement today in honor of Veterans Day:
“On Veterans Day, we honor the service and bravery of veterans and the sacrifices of military families. One of my top priorities has been to ensure that veterans and their families in New Mexico receive benefits that they deserve and the support they need to find good paying jobs and transition back into civilian life.
“Over the past six years, my office has held the VA and New Mexico’s Veterans Affairs Health Care System accountable on issues that endanger the health and welling being of veterans in New Mexico. We have called for a national Government Accountability Office investigation into VA employee misconduct and whistleblower retaliation and continue to push for improvements in procedures, increased staffing, and veteran accessibility to care here in Albuquerque. My Congressional office has worked with hundreds of veterans and their family members to ensure they are receiving the highest quality of care possible.
