A New Mexico political news website is being re-introduced today.
NMpolitics.net was active from 2006 to 2012. The brainchild of former Las Cruces Sun News reporter Heath Haussamen, it went on hiatus for a few years, while Haussamen helped to launch another site, New Mexico In Depth. Full disclosure: KRWG is a content partner with both of those websites.
Haussamen, who is based in Las Cruces, says he is happy to be returning to political reporting full time. The Santa Fe native says he hopes his website will help to make the state more engaged in politics. He says he concerned about the decline in voter turnout.
KRWG, NMpolitics.net, and the Las Cruces Sun News are partnering on a multimedia effort to cover the Las Cruces municipal elections this fall. It’s one way Haussamen says he hopes to improve the community dialogue and possibly increase voter participation.
