Merger Magic for Bigs and Littles Under the Big Top

March 6, 2015 – Las Cruces, NM - On this edition of PUENTES, Emily Guerra bridges the community with the new Regional Director for Big Brothers Big Sisters Mountain Region – Doña Ana/Grant County, Dawn Starostka, and Board President, Lucas Peerman with Las Cruces Sun News. Recently two non-profit organizations merged to ensure stronger and more capable programs for our youth by combining resources and ideas. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern New Mexico and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwestern New Mexico became Big Brothers Big Sisters Mountain Region.

The Big Brothers and Big Sisters are called “Bigs,” and their young companions are called “Littles.” Research has shown that positive relationships between Bigs and Littles impact children’s lives by performing better in school, getting along better with their families, and being less likely to use drugs and alcohol.

Enjoy an evening of youthful fun, "A Little Magic under the Big Top," in a circus type atmosphere on Friday, March 13th, at 6 p.m. at New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum. Help support the nation’s oldest one-to-one youth mentoring program, Big Brothers Big Sisters.

For more information contact Dawn Starostka at dawn.starostka@bbbsmountainregion.org; or call (575) 523-9530; and visit on Facebook at Big Brothers Big Sisters Mountain Region – Dona Ana/Grant Counties.
