HOSA/Future Health Care Professionals at Las Cruces High

Aretha Deng receives an award with other HOSA officers.

Las Cruces, NM - On this edition of PUENTES, bridges to the community, host Emily Guerra meets with Las Cruces High School HOSA/Future Health Professionals Chapter Advisor, Joanie Anderson; and with LCHS student and former HOSA New Mexico State Officer, Aretha Deng, to talk about the opportunities available to LCHS students interested in pursuing medical careers. LCHS and Oñate High School are the only two HOSA chapters in Las Cruces.  

In the 1970’s HOSA/Future Health Professionals was originally called “Health Occupations Students of America.” It is one of the career and technical student organizations (CTSOs) primarily based in high schools and career technology centers.

Through the month of May, the LCHS HOSA/Future Health Professionals Chapter is offering a week’s worth of advertising for businesses on the school marquee to raise funds to send students to the National HOSA competition in Orlando, Florida this summer.
