Las Cruces, NM - On this edition of PUENTES, bridges to the community, host Emily Guerra meets with Las Cruces artist, Jo-an Smith, recognized as both a jeweler and a painter. In 1976 she joined the Cutter Gallery as a goldsmith and held her first art show there.
On Saturday, November 4th she will open her one-woman art show, “Elemental,” with an artist’s reception from 1 pm to 4 pm at the Cutter Gallery, 2640 El Paseo Road, Las Cruces. The show will run through November 30th with two special Saturday events in association with “Elemental;” “Memories” on Saturday, November 11th from 11 am to noon, a conversation with Al Tombaugh about his father, Clyde Tombaugh, who discovered the planet Pluto; and on Saturday, November 18th Smith will present a discussion of how she got her start as an artist.
