Brave, New World: Composer Bill McGlaughlin & Conductor Lonnie Klein Discuss World Premiere

Composer and national radio host Bill McGlaughlin and LCSO conductor Lonnie Klein visited KRWG in late September, 2012.

  • Each group of people who has come into the land of New Mexico has experienced it as a brave new world, says composer and radio personality Bill McGlaughlin. That sense of wonder and vastness, and the layered, multi-cultural history here, are what he tried to portray in his new work, “Brave New World,” written for the centennial of the state. The work was commissioned by the Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra under the director of Lonnie Klein, and premiered on September 29 and 30, 2012. McGlaughlin and Klein discuss the work and their musical lives in this interview with Intermezzo host Leora Zeitlin.
