Border Patrol Agent Killed On Duty In ATV Crash

A U.S. Border Patrol Agent died in the line of duty on Friday night after an ATV accident near Fort Hancock, Texas. The agent is identified as 29-year-old Leopoldo Cavazos, Jr.  An investigation into the accident is being conducted by the U.S. Border Patrol's El Paso Sector.

BPA Cavazos was a native of Houston, Texas, and entered on duty with the U.S. Border Patrol May 22, 2006, as a member of the 621st Session of the Border Patrol Academy.  After graduating from the Academy, he was assigned to the Ft. Hancock Station in the El Paso Sector.  He served at that station his entire career.  While assigned there, BPA Cavazos served as a Border Patrol Agent, a Field Intelligence Agent, a Safety Officer and a First Responder.  He also participated in several operations in Texas, New Mexico and Arizona.
