New Mexico Courts, Corrections and Justice Committe Hold Forum on REAL ID

Las Cruces, NM – Last week the New Mexico Courts, Corrections and Justice Committee held public forums on the campus of New Mexico State University. The committee is made up of both State Senators and Representatives, was briefed on the implementation requirements of the REAL ID Act of 2005. As KRWG's Evan Woodward reports, the Federal Bill is being opposed by a number of state organizations across the country.

Las Cruces, NM – The Humane Society of the United States has been at the Dona Ana County's Humane Society to check on the facility. Five consultants were brought in to evaluate the shelter to determine whether the facility is at national standards. The Dona Ana County Humane Society is not in any violation.

Displaced Hatch Residents to Reside in Salem

Las Cruces, NM – The Dona Ana County Commission unanimously passed a resolution this afternoon which authorizes the use of nine acres of County land to house displaced Hatch families. Pluto Discover Commemerated at Local Church

Las Cruces, NM – Last week, Pluto was renamed a dwarf planet, leaving our Milky Way with only eight planets. Pluto was discovered by, Clyde W. Tombough, a well known local astronomer. Breaking News: New Mexico Ranks 4th in Poverty

Las Cruces, NM – The United States Census Bureau released a study today ranking New Mexico fourth in the nation for poverty. According to the report seventeen point two percent of residents live below the poverty line in New Mexico. Research Director for New Mexico Voices For Children, and former Economist, Gerry Bradley says it's mostly the rural areas of the state that are suffering.
