New Mexico Election Update

Las Cruces, NM – In unofficial results from the state's website New Mexico's five electoral votes went to presidential candidate Democrat Barack Obama. Obama received fifty-six percent of the popular vote while Republican candidate John McCain received forty-three percent.

In the State Senate race Congressman Democrat Tom Udall defeated opponent republican Steve Pearce. Udall garnered sixty percent of the votes as compared to Pearce's forty percent.

Rasmussen Poll: Obama's Lead in NM Grows

Albuquerque, NM – A new poll finds Democrat Barack Obama with a ten point lead over Republican John McCain in the final days of the presidential race in New Mexico. The Rasmussen poll was based on the responses of five hundred likely voters, and showed Obama had the support of 54 percent while McCain had 44 percent.
