White Sands National Monument will
be holding regular Sunset Strolls in the park now through August 1st.
The one-hour ranger-guided walk will take participants through sand
dunes and learn about the geology, plants, and animals of this National
Monument. The program starts at the sign along the dunes drive about
five miles from the visitor center. No charge for the program but the

The Southwestern Chapter of the American
Civil Liberties Union is seeking musicians for a competition in the
“Border Regions” of West Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona, who write
and perform in any musical genre. They are looking for songs that deal
with issues of Civil Liberties relating to Border Issues, Immigration,
and/or the AZ law, SB 1070. Three finalists will be selected from the
entrants to perform at the Chapter’s Annual Meeting, to be held on
September 17, 2010. The winner will be selected at that time and will
receive a 4 hour recording session from Barefoot Records. The

The 2nd Annual MainStreet SalsaFest
is accepting applications for the salsa makers competition by Friday,
July 30th. Home-made salsa makers and restaurants who
want to compete at the MainStreet SalsaFest on Sunday, August 29 will
be eligible for awards and prizes. Applications can be obtained
by calling the Downtown Las Cruces Partnership office at or they can

in partnership with the MMC Family Practice Residency Program and HELP-NM
is offering Free training to community members on Thursday, August 4th

The first meeting of the Fort Bayard
Book Club will be Wednesday, August 4th at 7 pm. Participants

- The New Mexico GLBTQ centers
at 1210 N. Main holds a variety of regular support groups and meetings
monthly for the LBGT community including Parent groups, transgender

- Ciclovia Las Cruces sponsors
monthly events that promote health and activities. On the last
